Cooperativa Agraria Cafetalera La Florida founded in 1966 by 100 peasant farmers now has 1900 members. They support an organic farming school, a coffee processing plant, women’s groups, three schools, and rural health clinics, as well as encouraging planting local food crops. They recently have begun to fund micro-businesses owned by women.
La Florida coffees are high grown at 2300-5700 feet, and have good body, medium acidity, and superior flavor and aroma.
