Asociacion de Barillense de Agricultores (ASOBAGRI) was founded in 1989 by 20 K’an-job’al Mayan small farmers, and now consists of about 1400 families in over 80 small villages. Members promote literacy, maintain sustainable agriculture, develop alternative sources of income by diversifying crops, invest in quality control and farmer education, and support healthcare, all in one of the most isolated regions in the State of Huehuetenango.
ASOBAGRI coffee is grown at 4,500 to 6,000 feet, and has a mild acidity and smooth body, with sweet citrus and chocolate notes.
