Productores Organicas de la Sierra (CEP-CO) founded in 1989, is a cooperative representing 16,000 members. The coop has constructed storage facilities and purchased warehouses, trucks, and scales. CEPCO also provides technical assistance for improvement in coffee quality and yield, sponsors a life insurance program, a microcredit program, a credit union, and a women’s organization. Their sustainable practices help protect more than 800 plant species and 390 varieties of birds.
The coffee is high grown at 5500 feet; is mild, with a light body and a rustic sweetness with hints of honeydew, lemon & cinnamon.
