In Tibetan culture prayer flags are hung to promote good fortune and dispel danger. along with traditional prayers printed in Tibetan script for peace, happiness and well-being, images include protective animals such as the Windhorse, Snow Lion, Dragon, Garuda and Tiger, as well as important deities such as Buddha and Tara. The five colors represent the five elements: Earth, Water, Fire, Wind and Infinite Space. Our flags are handmade by Tibetans in a traditional manner. They fade gracefully when hung outdoors. Because the symbols and prayers are considered sacred, please treat them respectfully. When disposing of old flags, please burn them.

Prayer Flag Descriptions
BUDDHA: Hang to purify your karma and invoke Buddha's blessings. The historical Buddha, or 'Enlightened One,' was born in 563 b.C. in Nepal. Through profound meditation he attained enlighttenment or Nirvana. His teachings revealed a path to escape suffering or Samsara.
BUDDHA MANTRA: Hang to invoke the healing message of the Buddha. The sacred mantra or prayer of the historical Sakyamuni Buddha, 'Om Muni Muni Maha Muniye Svaha,' translates as "May my mind receive and absorb the blessings and knowledge of the infinite Buddha mind."
TARA: Hang to ask for Tara's blessings and overcome obstacles. The Goddess Tara, known as The liberator, The Goddess Who Grants All Wishes, The Bodhisattva of Compassion and The Swift One - because of her immediate response to those requesting her aid.
WINDHORSE: Hang to send prayers for peace and harmony to all sentient beings. The Tibetan Windhorse or Lung-Ta, one of the 5 mystical animals, flies on celestial winds. This sacred messenger symbolizes the fusion of life energy, personal power and success.
